Are you a hands-on DIY guru with a passion for sharing your skills? We are looking for a practical, enthusiastic individual to join a supportive team in their construction department in Peterborough on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience in DIY, carpentry, or general construction to inspire and engage students, helping them develop practical skills in a creative and supportive setting.

In this role, you will inspire and support KS3 and KS4 students, helping them develop practical skills and confidence through construction-related projects. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, patience, and enthusiasm to teaching students using construction as a means to build life skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in Design and Technology with a focus on construction (woodwork, brickwork, plumbing, wiring, carpentry etc)
  • Develop student's practical construction skills, safety awareness, and ability to work with tools and materials
  • Encourage creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative work
  • Maintain a safe and organised workshop space, adhering to all health and safety regulations
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued

What we're looking for:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in construction, carpentry, DIY, or a similar trade (no formal teaching qualifications required)
  • A passion for working with young people and a commitment to helping them develop practical life skills
  • Patience, flexibility, and the ability to engage students
  • Strong communication skills with an approachable teaching style
  • A practical understanding of basic health and safety practices when working with tools and materials
