Daytime Healthcare are assisting a leading SEN School to find a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the team in Peterborough.

The school supports and cares for children with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. You will be assisting in teaching children and young people aged between 9 - 19 years with a range of disabilities and primarily a diagnosis of autism, many of whom have additional disabilities and challenging behaviours, with a particular specialism in developing communication and social skills through a therapeutically informed approach.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Teaching and learning Prepare lessons with teachers, including evaluating and adjusting lessons in response to pupils’ needs.
  • Provide short-term cover in response to teacher absence Provide written and verbal feedback on lesson content, pupil response to learning activities, and pupil behaviour, to teachers and pupils in line with the school policy.
  • Motivate and progress pupils learning following school policies and guidance from teachers.
  • Organise and safely manage the appropriate learning environment and resources Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils, both in the classroom and as part of first-quality teaching and through intervention work.

Experience:

  • GCSEs at grades A* to C in English and Maths
  • Experience of working with children (Desirable)
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification relevant to the post (Desirable)

Hours: 8.30 - 4.00pm Monday - Friday, finish time at 5.00pm on Wednesdays for a full staff meeting
