About the Role:

Our client, a respected provider of residential care for children and young people, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Residential Support Worker to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in the residential childcare sector to take on a more senior, leadership-focused role and make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will work alongside the management team to ensure that the children and young people in your care receive high-quality support and care in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. You will take a lead role in supporting junior staff, guiding them to provide outstanding care while contributing to the development of care plans and the overall running of the home.


Key Responsibilities:

? Support the team in providing high-quality care for children and young people, ensuring their well-being, safety, and development.

? Take a lead role in the implementation of individual care plans, ensuring they meet the specific needs of each child or young person.

? Supervise and mentor junior residential support workers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the team operates efficiently.

? Provide regular supervision and performance reviews for staff, promoting their development and ensuring high standards are maintained.

? Act as a role model for staff, demonstrating the highest levels of care and professionalism in all aspects of the role.

? Promote positive relationships with children and young people, supporting their emotional and psychological development through a trauma-informed approach. ? Ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are followed and take prompt action when required.

? Assist with the planning and delivery of activities that support childrens social, emotional, and educational development.

? Maintain accurate records in line with legislation, ensuring that all documentation is up to date and reflects the care and progress of each child.

? Help prepare and contribute to the delivery of Ofsted inspections, ensuring that the home meets regulatory standards.

? Assist in the recruitment and training of new staff, providing inductions and shadowing opportunities.

? Participate in on-call duties and be a point of contact for the team in emergencies.


Essential Qualifications and Experience:

? Minimum 1 years experience as a Residential Support Worker (or similar role) in a childrens home or similar setting.

? Level 3 Children and Young People Workforce Qualification (or equivalent). ? Sound understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.

? Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and motivate staff. ? Experience in working with young people with complex needs, including emotional and behavioral difficulties.

? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with children, staff, and external stakeholders.

? Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

? A compassionate, dedicated approach to working with children and young people and a commitment to their personal development.


Desirable Skills:

? Level 4 or 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).

? Previous experience in leading teams and mentoring staff.
