Attendance Officer - Secondary School (Peterborough)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only

Are you passionate about supporting young people in their education? Do you have excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail? We are seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join a thriving secondary school in Peterborough on an interim or temp to perm basis.



About the Role

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school. You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to monitor and improve attendance, ensuring that every student has the best opportunity to succeed.



Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and recording student attendance daily
  • Identifying and addressing attendance concerns
  • Contacting parents/carers regarding student absences
  • Working with pastoral teams and external agencies to support students
  • Producing attendance reports and maintaining accurate records
  • Encouraging a positive culture of attendance across the school


About You

  • Strong organisational and IT skills (experience with SIMS or similar systems is desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to improving student outcomes
  • Previous experience in a similar role or a school environment is advantageous
