In partnership with a large school in Peterborough, we’re looking for specialist teaching assistants to join the team. Ideally the incoming teaching assistants will have personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with complex needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties.

This is a truly unique learning experience for young people with complex needs, the school offers a broad, therapeutic based curriculum which is individualised to each pupil.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • To support all pupils throughout the school site with toileting/intimate care as required according to their individual toileting programmes and care plans.
  • Assess the needs of young people and use detailed knowledge of their personal care needs to support them.
  • To hoist or position pupils, in accordance with their individual OT/Physio plan and in line with school moving and handling procedures
  • To safeguard and protect the well-being of pupils in line with Trust policy and procedures.
  • To establish rapport and respectful, trusting relationships with young people.
  • To act as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • To promote inclusion and acceptance of all.
  • To provide basic First aid where appropriate.
  • To promote self-esteem and independence.

This can be a full time or part time role, although we ask that you are able to commit to full school days i.e. Can work from 08.30 to 15.15 at least two days per week. Full time roles would be Monday to Friday and term-time only.
