Job Description:

Quest Employment is recruiting forTechnical Operatorroles on a temporary-ongoing basis based in the Orton Southgate area of Peterborough. To be considered for theTechnical Operatorroles all candidates must be flexible within reason, reliable, and available for an immediate start where required. Candidates must have a good level of English speaking, reading, and writing.

TheTechnical Operatoroptimises productivity within the factory, assisting the Team Leader at change overs by setting up the machinery, instructing staff and completing SAP / paperwork processes, covering Team Leaders during breaks and for holidays and sickness, during the rest of the time the Technical Operator fulfils Production Operative duties. Work performed and service rendered must always be of the highest standard and priority. The overall purpose is to maximise the effectiveness of Production Operatives, production equipment, up time and efficiency as measured through KPIs.

A certain level of dexterity is required and will be assessed where needed.

Our Client is an international manufacturer and distributor of cereal products. They are a well-established, growing company with many opportunities in a site based in the Orton Southgate area of Peterborough. Shifts are 06:00 - 18:00 / 18:00 - 06:00, Panama shift pattern.

Day to day of the role:

  • Attending to all documentation relevant to the production system and Quality Department.
  • Assist the Team Leader when necessary, by instructing and monitoring production personnel on the line with particular focus during cleaning and change overs.
  • Material consumption control, garnish, wastage and traceability, scanning and paperwork completion including SAP/WMS, down time and OAL.
  • Optimising machinery effectiveness, using standard settings, completing machinery set ups and assisting during breakdowns. Assisting with CCP checks.
  • General production duties.
  • To ensure effective efficiency of production by working with the Team Leader to achieve agreed plant up-time and preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Actively take part in machine trials, continuous improvement and other development work.

Required skills:

  • Interest in machinery and how it operates, able to demonstrate a record of equipment set up
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry
  • Understanding of the principals and practice of food safety and maintenance within a food-manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of Food Production Principals and Practices
  • Good organisational, time management and communication skills
  • Creative problem solving and continuous improvement mindset along with a strong ability to react to production requirements
  • Methodical and able to work on own initiative
  • Must be highly accurate, set and work to a high standard with good attention to detail.
  • People skills
