The Company:

A Peterlee-based automotive company is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role involves ensuring the highest standards of quality across the manufacturing process, from initial design to final product inspection. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality control, particularly within the automotive industry, and possess hands-on experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Additionally, this position requires a customer-facing professional who can effectively communicate with clients to address quality concerns and ensure customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct system and process audits both internally and with local suppliers.
  • Define product quality specifications, qualify and approve potential suppliers.
  • Plan and execute quality assurance activities, including inspections and product approvals.
  • Perform detailed analyses, tests, and evaluations on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and documentation of all tests and inspections.
  • Develop new methods for quality testing and support plant management in tracking and improving process performance.
  • Maintain and enhance laboratory standards, potentially leading a team of QC operators.
  • Adhere to automotive quality standards, ensuring customer satisfaction and the achievement of plant objectives.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • A qualification in quality or a technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally, 3+ years in a similar quality-focused role.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive industry standards, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Familiarity with key quality tools and methods such as FMEA, 8D, and PPAP.
  • Preferably experienced in audit management following VDA 6.3 guidelines.
  • Excellent English communication skills and proficiency in computer use are essential.
