Location - North Yorkshire
Contract - Fulltime, Permanent
Hours - Mon to Thurs 8:00am to 5:00pm & Fri 8:00am to 2:00pm
Work Environment - Primarily office-based with independent and team-oriented tasks. This role may involve travel to suppliers and customer locations.
Purpose of Role
Drive supplier management and sourcing strategies to maximise profitability.
Key Responsibilities of the Buyer:
- Manage RFQ to SOP processes for new business awards.
- Oversee daily commercial supplier management, including cost reduction initiatives.
- Develop innovative ideas to enhance profitability through commercial or process efficiencies.
- Support Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) by managing supplier delivery issues and negotiating claims.
- Formulate and implement commodity strategies covering packaging, logistics, and consumables.
Candidate Profile
What We're Looking For: A highly motivated professional with a proactive approach to business challenges, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Key Skills of the Buyer:
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical, literacy, and numeracy abilities
- Demonstrated negotiation expertise
Ideal Experience:
- Willingness to travel within the UK
- Previous experience as a Buyer or Graduate Buyer
- Proven experience managing projects from RFQ to SOP
- Track record of meeting project goals and achieving cost reductions
Educational Background:
- Graduate degree in Business, Mathematics, or related field preferred
- CIPS certification (desirable but not required)
Additional Requirements:
- Strong numerical and communication skills
- Ability to summarize complex data and present insights to management
- Flexible and adaptable to meet evolving business needs
