VisionFR has been instructed to work on behalf of a growing creative agency to find them their next Head of Finance. This agency was established over 20 years ago and has clients in over 90 countries.

Key Responsibilities of The Head of Finance

  • Management of all day to day financial controls, reconciliations, inputs and payments.
  • Management, oversight and development of the current team of three : Business Finance Partner, Junior Management Accountant & Purchase Ledger Assistant.
  • Oversee the monthly WIP Meetings that feed into our revenue calculations.
  • Preparation and ownership of monthly management accounts and month end reporting
  • Reporting revenue by service type and client and provide insights to drive commercial decisions
  • Ensure that balance sheet reconciliations are completed/reviewed to agreed deadlines
  • Management and ownership of monthly payroll process (delivered via an external service)
  • Working with the external accountants to prepare the annual statutory accounts.
  • Identify and report on KPI’s for the business that make the difference.
  • Ensure that all variances are understood and deliver insightful commentary that helps to influence the company direction and strategy.
  • Present to the Board on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Monitor and report on department and individual timesheets, job profitability, income and costs against budget identifying efficiencies and productivity gains.
  • Planning and Implementation of a new finance and project management system by Dec 2025.
  • Management of internal Tax processes
  • Develop and own the planning, budgeting, cash flow and financial modelling processes for the company.
  • Close control on Debtors and Credits and supervise supplier payment runs and conduct credit checks on new clients and suppliers
  • Improve understanding of how to measure job profitability in near real time
  • Improving the financial, buying and operational controls within the business.
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests from senior colleagues and team members.
  • Be cost aware - using data as it flows through the system, to seek efficiencies and savings across the board
  • Be a member of the Senior Management Team and contribute to the overall strategy and growth of the company

Skills and Attributes of The Head of Finance

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) Minimum five years PQE.
  • Excellent IT skills, excel and accounting software
  • Staff management skills
  • Direct experience of working in an SME/Owner managed business.
  • Self-motivated and positive
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong instinct and a feel for what the numbers are saying - ability to tell a story with them
  • Strong communication skills with a gut instinct for issues and problems.
