Techniche Global are supporting an engineering defence contractor to appoint a Buildings Support Engineer supporting the team’s Lead Architect on the design of two modular buildings within their nuclear licensed docking and berthing facilities at the dockyard. This role would suit an Architectural background with strong experience of modular building construction, ideally within a regulated environment. M&E, HVAC or similar background within construction would be well suited.
  Rate:                    £70p/hr UMBLocation:            Devonport, Plymouth (hybrid- 4 days WFH; 1 day at the site)Duration:           6-12 monthsRequirements: Eligible for SC Clearance    Key Responsibilities: Â- Manage one or more technical design packages as assigned by the Principal Engineer (Buildings), agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance, and making appropriate technical management responses. Provide Subject Matter Expert advice as per discipline.
- Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
- Assist the Principal Engineer (Buildings) to ensure effective Quality Management Arrangements via compliance with The Company’s Business Management System and Technical Manual.
- Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
- Ensure that contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.
- Ensure design information is articulated to the Principal Engineer (Buildings) to enable appropriate justification of the engineering / activities within the Facility Safety Case.
- Liaise with the Engineering Services Technical Authority to ensure that Relevant Good Practice is employed.
- Review of Design House submission to confirm building design complies with Planning, Building Control, and Government and Defence related Standards.
- Advising and assisting with integration and facilities design and management, and stakeholder involvement.
- Engineering apprenticeship/HNC qualification in relevant engineering discipline, with demonstrable experience
- Actively working toward Chartered Status
- Experience in working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types
- Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities
- Good communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines
- Breadth and depth of experience in a range of commercial or defence projects
