Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Manager to join a dynamic team in Plymouth. This role will support the delivery of buildings infrastructure within a dock facility. The project involves the upgrade of a working dockyard, requiring seamless integration with site-wide service distribution systems.

As a Senior Design Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and oversee the design and construction of major new industrial buildings. You will ensure that all design work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, delivering solutions that meet client expectations and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of building designs by external consultants, ensuring alignment with project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the design and construction of multifunctional industrial buildings, including workshops, storage areas, and office spaces.
  • Lead a team of technical engineers, providing guidance and ensuring that consultants’ deliverables are reviewed and fit for purpose.
  • Ensure that all designs incorporate sustainability and prioritize safety, health, and environmental considerations.
  • Facilitate effective integration of new infrastructure within the existing dockyard environment, coordinating with site-wide service distribution systems.

Qualifications Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering is essential.
  • Chartered status (Architect or Engineer) registered with the appropriate professional body is preferred.
  • Experience in the design and construction of high-hazard facilities, particularly within the nuclear sector or specialized environments like X-ray facilities, is highly beneficial.
  • Eligibility for Security Clearance, requiring a minimum of five years of residency in the UK and holding a British passport.
