Morson Talent are working with a major client in the Nuclear Sector who have a current requirement for an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join their established team in Devonport, Plymouth. This is a 12-month contract role – inside IR35.
Overview:
As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will:
• Deliver commissioning projects to meet the appropriate national legal requirements and Client’s requirement specification.
• Report to the Commissioning Manager and provide front line supervision of electrical commissioning to BS7671 & BS2391
• Provide site support and technical oversight in preparation for and during commissioning on the Fleet 22 project.
• Safely implement and manage allocated commissioning packages of work in line with project requirements, technical and regulatory standards and specifications.
• Prepare/Review/Implement Setting to work/SAT documents.
• Plan, assess and generate Safe Systems of Work and where applicable manage the subsequent implementation of the allocated work scope in accordance with the commissioning strategy and commissioning safety plan

Key Responsibilities
• Attend Devonport 5 days a week to be the front-line rep. You will be the focal point for the Company, Customer and subcontractors (where applicable).
• Ensure all activities are planned, assessed and managed so that risks or hazards are adequately identified and controlled to ensure compliance with relevant Company and Customer standards, expectations, rules and procedures.
• Set and uphold standards and expectations in line with Company initiatives such as People Who Do The Right Thing and People Who Lead Safely.
• Organise and obtain sufficient resources to deliver the applicable work scope as described in the contract and/or project documentation.
• Oversee the implementation of work to ensure that it meets the required technical and quality standards - hence delivered right first time.
• Ensure suitable Safe Systems of Work (Risk Assessments, Methods Statements etc.) are produced so that supervisors and work teams can be effectively set to work, supervised and are provided with adequate instruction and information so as to complete the work task safely.
• Manage and control sub-contractors where applicable.
• Review and assess training and competency records of personnel (including those of sub-contractors) to ensure that those assigned to undertake tasks are competent to do so.
• Provide regular reports, information and statistics to the Company and/or Customer to demonstrate performance against Safety, Quality, Time and Cost criteria.
• Carry out regular workplace inspections to ensure compliance with relevant Company and Customer standards, expectations, rules and procedures.
• Immediately report any unplanned events or incidents in line with Company and Customer procedures.


The successful candidate:
• Typically, Membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution any of the following:
Bachelor’s degree – Electrical bias
Vocational Qualification Level 6
SVQ Level 4
Time-served electrical apprenticeship
HNC/HND Electrical qualification
Or A minimum C&G Level 2 with

Alternatively, and augmented with relevant/significant industry experience. Membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution and any of the following:
NVQ Level 4
HNC-HND
SVQ Level 3

Other requirements:
• 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations,
• IOSH Managing Safely
• Ideally certified to BS2391
• Will have previous, demonstrable experience of undertaking complex commissioning projects within highly regulated environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• An effective and collaborative communication style
• Will have or be able to obtain and keep SC security clearance (to be processed by Client/Morson)
