Butler Rose is recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business in Plymouth, seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator to play a key role in ensuring compliance and driving best practices in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE). This is a hands-on role that will have a direct impact on the company's safety culture and operational excellence.

About the Role

As HSE Coordinator, you will work closely with management and staff to embed positive HSE practices across the business. You will challenge existing processes, influence change, and foster a culture where health, safety, and environmental responsibility are prioritised. With a proactive and pragmatic approach, you will balance compliance requirements with operational goals to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with UK HSE regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
  • Deliver internal training sessions and coordinate external HSE training.
  • Monitor and investigate incidents, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Lead regular workplace inspections, audits, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Promote sustainability initiatives, waste management, and energy efficiency improvements.
  • Engage and collaborate with staff to drive a culture of HSE ownership.

About You

  • Experience in an HSE-related role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE regulations and compliance obligations.
  • Proven experience in leading HSE improvement projects.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
