What we’re looking for

Are you an Assistant Manager in the field of tax or perhaps a highly experienced Tax Senior ready to progress to the role of Tax Manager in Plymouth? Or perhaps you’re a Tax Manager already and would be keen to apply for this role at the upper end of the salary bracket at senior level?

We represent a thriving firm in Plymouth, tasked with finding a talented Tax Manager to offer corporate tax analysis, advisory and compliance services to a range of interesting clients in varying sectors.

This role will suit an ambitious tax accountant, qualified to ACA, ACCA, CA and CTA level and with significant corporate tax experience.

We’re searching for a confident, technically excellent, and motivated tax accountant who can review and complete accounts and tax returns and can offer our clients enhanced knowledge and advice when it comes to tax efficiencies.

You will be adept at leading a team and you will have experience of performance management and mentorship. We are looking for a brilliant work ethic and a candidate with first-class communication skills. You will be ambitious, motivated, and excited to take on a new challenge.

Job Purpose

  • Leading the firm’s Corporate Tax provision.
  • The successful candidate will be the go-to for clients, regularly attending meetings and aiming to deliver customer service excellence from both a compliance and advisory viewpoint.
  • Reviewing corporate tax returns.
  • Tax planning, advice, and risk mitigation.
  • You will take full responsibility for the work from initiation of the work, dealing with the Client, execution of the more complex aspects, delegation and managing junior staff working on your clients through to billing.
  • Manage and inspire the tax team.
  • Encourage, support, and mentor junior team members — championing customer service excellence.
  • Proactively investigate and identify opportunities for the firm and clients and be confident in presenting and discussing them at Partner level.
  • Showcase a high level of commercial acumen.
