Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Trunk Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial driving, and will be responsible for delivering goods safely and efficiently. This role is crucial in ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Operate Trunk vehicles to transport goods to various locations as per delivery schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Loading is done on site and no handballing, ensuring that all items are secured properly for transport.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status and any potential delays.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving on public roads.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the lorry to uphold company standards.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driving licence with appropriate endorsements for HGV Class 1 operation.
- Proven experience as a Trunk driver or in a similar role within the logistics industry.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial driving.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills to interact with team members and customers effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong commitment to safety and attention to detail in all aspects of driving and delivery tasks.
