Labourer/Operative

DK Recruitment are looking to recruitment Labourers/Operatives for our client’s Devonport site for a 12-month contract. Successful candidates will undertake a variety of tasks and training to meet role requirements, with an emphasis on learning new skills.

Candidate Requirements:

• Must hold a current full clean driving licence
• Counterbalance FLT licence is desirable; willingness to train is essential
• Willing to work at height and in confined spaces
• MEWP operator or willingness to train
• Understanding of the client’s business role, processes, and procedures is beneficial
• Positive attitude towards Health and Safety, with a willingness to challenge unsafe acts
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to present clean shaven for a face fit test
• Ability to work in a team
• Some heavy lifting required
• Willingness to work as a Nuclear Reactor cleaner and to work shifts as needed (not required for all roles)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Competences:

• Previous experience working in a marine environment
• Knowledge of submarine and warship layouts
• Willingness to undertake development training as per a competency framework
• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment
• Ideally have previous work experience within a confined space environment

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of COSHH, Manual Handling, and Risk Assessment Regulations
• Sound basic knowledge of health and safety matters related to the work environment
• Knowledge and application of PPE relevant to the work area
• Capability to maintain work area husbandry and protect equipment/prepared surfaces
• Basic comprehension of written/oral instructions and fundamental IT skills/general administration

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to obtain and hold SC Security clearance
• Completion of a medical assessment prior to employment offer
