About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1-1 Teaching Assistant for an alternative provision in Plymouth, Devon. The successful candidate will have the rewarding opportunity to support a student on a one-to-one basis, both within the school environment and the wider community. As a core member of our team, you will play a crucial role in aiding the student’s educational and social development, nurturing their ability to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide tailored assistance and support to a student, addressing their individual learning needs.
- Foster a secure and positive learning environment, both within the school setting and during community-based activities.
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (e.g., learning through play, structured activities, projects, etc.) to encourage engagement and facilitate learning.
- Monitor and evaluate the student's progress, maintaining thorough records of their achievements and areas requiring further support.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to implement and adapt individual learning plans (IEPs) for the student.
- Facilitate the social and emotional development of the student by encouraging positive interactions and promoting self-confidence.
- Manage any challenging behaviour effectively and in accordance with the school’s policies and guidance.

Requirements:
- Hold a valid driver's license as driving the student to various locations will be part of the role.
- Must be available to work from 08:30 to 15:30, Monday through Friday.
- Previous experience with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) students or children is ideal but not a necessity.
- A passionate and patient individual with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work, capable of adapting to varying needs and situations.
