Mechanical Fitter

Duration: 6 Months initially. Potential for 3 years work.
40 Guaranteed hours a week, additional hours and shift may be a possibility but not guaranteed.
Essential experience
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions
- Operating various workshop machinery specific to mechanical fitting
- Experience working in the marine engineering industry, particularly on Royal Navy ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels, or large commercial ships. We'll also consider relevant experience from other engineering sectors.
- Demonstrable experience of removing, installing, and overhauling marine mechanical equipment, with a focus on propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, and power generation equipment.
- Experience working in a marine engineering environment - Desirable
Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter
We're looking for candidates with a good foundation in mechanical engineering. This could include:
- Completion of a time-served apprenticeship in marine or naval engineering
- An indentured apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
- A Level-3 Modern Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
- A Level-3 Mechanical Engineering qualification
