I'm excited to offer an opportunity for a proactive Import Assistant to join my clients expanding team at their Head Office in Plymouth. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is keen to gain extensive experience in international trade.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Register and perform import checks on new container orders.
  • Process shipping documents and handle international payments including Letters of Credit (LC).
  • Prepare customs entries and ensure timely release of entry files.
  • Expedite shipments, shipping documents, and container releases with suppliers.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and distribution of department reports.
  • Investigate and resolve shipment issues related to loading, pricing, or cube discrepancies.
  • Perform data entry tasks, updating and monitoring information on our bespoke intranet-based system.
  • Raise and resolve claims with both UK and international suppliers.
  • Handle general administrative tasks and correspondence within the import department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in international logistics is advantageous, though training will be provided.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in work.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of dealing with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain composure and efficiency under pressure.
  • Quick learner with the ability to multitask.
  • Confidence in using IT systems, particularly Microsoft 365 (Office), online platforms, and intermediate level Excel.
