Butler Rose are currently supporting a Public Sector organisation in the Plymouth area on an exclusive basis who have a current requirement for a Senior Procurement Manager.

The role

The objective of the role will be to lead the development and implementation of complex supply chain strategies, predominately in Capital Projects across Estates & Facilities. You will also utilise in-depth market intelligence to influence annual spend across Categories to optimise competitive tension, leverage supplier relationships and deliver a complex portfolio of tendering activity.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead on the delivery and continuous development of an effective, flexible and sustainable procurement service
  • Decision making impacting on cross functional activities, creating guidance and training on sustainable procurement activities
  • Lead and direct the operational work flow of a multi-disciplined team, ensuring agreed targets and standards are consistently met
  • Develop, motivate and coach the team to deliver their best, providing feedback on performance
  • Create relationships with suppliers, customers, partners and stakeholders
  • Proactively network with suppliers and customers to engender the effective sharing of knowledge, developing best practice and implementing initiatives that drive forward business improvements
  • Manage priorities for sustainable procurement activities and associated cross functional projects
  • Engage with cross-organisational teams and working groups to achieve joint objectives
  • Design and develop processes, procedures and policies that support strategic business needs
  • Research, interpret and analyse complex data, reports on key findings and advises on appropriate actions ensuring appropriate dissemination of specialist knowledge.

To be chosen for the role you must possess the following skills/experience:

  • Extensive experience in purchasing, procurement and supply procedures and processes, including sourcing, tendering, evaluation techniques
  • Experience of procurement at an influential level in a medium/large complex organisation
  • Strong communication skills with the clear ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders
  • Proven track record of delivering significant savings and efficiencies across a diverse range of procurement activities
  • Commercially astute with good analytical skill
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex data and information
  • Strong IT skills, including a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Package:

  • Salary range £50,000 - £56,000
