About the Role

Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a Plymouth based manufacturer for an experienced Manufacturing/Production Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in overseeing and optimising manufacturing processes within the business. The role focuses on ensuring cost efficiency, maintaining quality, and supporting day-to-day production while contributing to the successful introduction of new products and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimise existing production processes, prioritising safety, cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Develop and manage labour bills of materials (BOM) and production routings.
  • Lead and execute capital expenditure (CapEx) projects, from identification through to justification, implementation, and validation.
  • Conduct work measurements to ensure accurate BOMs and capacity management.
  • Apply lean methodologies such as 5S, standard work, total productive maintenance, visual management, and value stream mapping.
  • Ensure production processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) make efficient use of materials, methods, and personnel.
  • Engage in creative problem-solving to resolve operational issues, including health and safety, efficiency, bottlenecks, and quality concerns.
  • Design and implement tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing processes.
  • Support environmental health and safety (EH&S) initiatives.
  • Maintain and enhance current products with a focus on manufacturing processes.
  • Investigate and resolve current production issues.
  • Support testing and replacement of obsolete consumables.
  • Design and manage the introduction of new tooling for ongoing production processes.

  • Delivery of solutions in line with operating quality systems and business KPIs

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise reports and deliver effective presentations.
  • Proficiency in lean problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies.
