My client in Plymouth is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and enhance the manufacturing processes within allocated areas. This role is crucial for ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency in day-to-day production and contributes to the successful implementation of new products and processes. The ideal candidate will work as part of a multifunctional team within a dynamic production environment, supporting the business’s goals and objectives.
Day-to-day of the role:- Optimise existing production processes focusing on safety, cost, quality, and delivery.
- Create and manage Labour Bill of Materials and routings.
- Develop and deliver capex projects from identification through justification, implementation, and validation.
- Conduct work measurement to ensure accurate BOM and capacity management.
- Utilise lean tools and practices, including standard work, 5S, Total Productive Maintenance, Visual Management, and value stream mapping.
- Ensure production processes and SOPs efficiently utilise materials, methods, and personnel.
- Engage in creative problem-solving to address operational issues, including health and safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality issues.
- Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
- Implement and support EH&S activities.
- Maintain and improve current products concerning manufacturing processes.
- Investigate and solve current production process issues.
- Support the testing and replacement of obsolescent consumables.
- Design and manage the introduction of new tooling related to current production processes.
- Engineering/Manufacturing degree or suitably qualified through experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to produce concise reports and effective presentations.
- Proficiency in the use of Lean problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies and practices.
- Competitive salary £35k - £40k per annum.
- Full time onsite, static day shift, 7.30am-4.30pm Mon-Thurs, 7.30am-12.30pm Fri
