Are you ready to take on a role that is crucial to the smooth operation of a leading production facility? We are seeking a dedicated Shift Engineer to join our team in Plymouth. This position offers the opportunity to engage in both proactive and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring the efficient operation of our factory. You will be instrumental in maintaining our plant, equipment, and facilities, contributing significantly to our ongoing success.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Reactive Maintenance: Prioritise and address the plant’s immediate needs while balancing other repairs and projects.
  • Proactive Tasks: Engage in projects, line improvements, offline repairs, and planned maintenance.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Carry out reactive maintenance across all plant, equipment, services, and buildings, including fault finding and repairs.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform planned preventative maintenance and monitoring according to schedules.
  • Improvement Initiatives: Assist with developing and implementing line improvements.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with team leaders and management to achieve targets related to safety, quality, output, efficiency, energy, and waste. Maintain effective communication with the Engineering Manager regarding all engineering and production issues.
  • Flexibility: Maintain flexibility to cover holidays, additional hours, absences, and call-outs as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Training: Apprentice trained in a building trade or equivalent with an associated qualification.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in an engineering role, ideally in a high-volume production environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of production plant and equipment and basic mechanical and electrical principles. Proficient in fault finding (electrical and mechanical), bench fitting, servicing, fabrication, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, and installation.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues promptly.
