The Program Manager, reporting into the Site Director, will lead and manage key investment initiatives, CAPEX at the Plymouth / Cornwall food manufacturing site, focusing on operational projects to increase capacity, improve efficiency, and optimize performance. It will also drive system upgrades essential to the business's growth, NPD plant trials, ensuring the site maintains a competitive edge and long-term sustainability.

  • Key Group Roles (IT, Procurement, Finance, Manufacturing Excellence)

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Program Lead and Transformation Lead to deliver complex business transformational investment projects.
  • Identify necessary project resources, allocate them effectively, assign responsibilities, and track progress, ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and meeting safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Work with the Program Lead to develop the master plan, define milestones, scope the project, plan activities, conduct workshops, and estimate costs and benefits.
  • Monitor and coordinate the project team's activities to ensure efficient task completion.
  • Maintain detailed documentation to ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements, including planning and building regulations, CDM Regulations, contractual obligations, hygienic manufacturing, and validation specifications.
  • Ensure the Samworth Brothers Responsible Business Strategy is incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate project status and issues to the project team, stakeholders, and Category leadership.
  • Support adherence to robust project processes and high-quality standards.

Profile

  • Manufacturing Project/Program Management: Extensive experience managing large-scale projects, particularly in the Food, Beverage, or Consumer Goods sectors, ensuring efficient execution while meeting timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • CAPEX or Continuous Improvement Management: Proven ability to manage CAPEX or continuous improvement projects, identifying and mitigating risks, and driving cost-effective, sustainable improvements in manufacturing processes.

  • Stage Gate Methodology: Strong understanding of Stage Gate project management, ensuring systematic progress and effective risk management, with familiarity in Prince2 methodology to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and ensure effective collaboration across teams.

  • Problem-Solving and Accountability: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to hold team members accountable, ensuring projects remain on track and meet deadlines despite obstacles.

  • Budget Management: Experienced in managing project budgets, tracking expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring financial efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Location: The ability to be on-site 4-5 days a week in Plymouth/Cornwall, fully integrating with the leadership team
