Marine Painters required for a 12-month contract based in Plymouth.
You will need to demonstrate a sound understanding of surface preparation standards and have relevant experience in a wide variety of coating application techniques. There may be a requirement to be to work shift work and overtime to support the business needs.
Role requirements
- Prepare bare substrates and existing coatings, demonstrating the knowledge of a systematic approach.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the quality standards associated to surface preparation.
- Be prepared to provide technical guidance to other employees in relation to techniques and procedures within their competence.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the requirements contained within paint Manufacturer’s
- Technical and Safety Data Sheets
- Competent in applying coating materials associated to a marine environment by brush, roller, conventional spray, and airless spray.
- Undertake and maintain husbandry of working areas and protection of equipment
- Instate Damage Control markings on raised tallies
- Previous experience working in a marine environment ideally
- Knowledge of submarines and warships desirable
- Willingness to undertake development training as identified in a competency framework
- Airless spraying experience and sign writing experience desirable
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety / COSHH
Qualifications and training
- NVQ level 3 Industrial / Marine / painting / Decorating
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a marine, industrial or commercial environment
- NVQ Level 2 Industrial / Marine / Painting / Decorating with the appetite to undertake additional training.
