Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

The purpose of the Mechanical Designer post is:
- Contribute to the BIM modelling aspects of the project, and under the guidance and direction of the Information & SUFLDDS Engineering Lead. This role will involve modelling authoring, federation and maintaining a defined and structured set of BIM objects contained within a wider BIM data set.
- To manage the technical aspects of the SUFLDDS work package from identification of the need, through to handover. The Mechanical Designer should have demonstrable knowledge in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk AutoCAD. The Mechanical Designer post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Project Business Unit.
Job Description
- Undertake technical delivery of one or more design packages as directed by the SUFLDDS Engineering Lead.
- Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
- Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and contributing to the project's technical planning process when required.
- Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements, operate and deliver through compliance with Babcock's Business Management System and Technical Manual.
- Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Required to hold qualifications in a relevant discipline at a minimum level of HNC or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Engineering Design.
- Design of mechanical process systems, such as pipework, valves, and vessels.
- Knowledge and experience of Building Information Modelling.
- Able to produce Process Sequence / P&ID drawings.
