Controls Engineering Technician

Plymouth

Working hours are 11am - 11pm (3 days on and 3 days off) offers a basic Salary of £40,000 plus a 32% shift premium Totalling £52800 per annum

You will:

  • Support the asset care team with control system expertise in assembly areas.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing equipment and breakdowns.
  • Optimise processes to boost output and reduce waste.
  • Train technicians to enhance equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Lead and drive operational improvements with a positive attitude and strong teamwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement TPM improvements to increase OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Repair and maintain plant electrical systems, including PLC's.
  • Support installation, debugging, and start-up of production equipment.
  • Monitor production machinery and proactively address issues.
  • Participate in equipment modifications to improve quality and costs.
  • Coach and mentor technicians in problem-solving techniques.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to drive operational efficiency.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer/Technician.
  • Proven experience in fault finding and root cause analysis.
  • Strong technical skills with a broad understanding of production equipment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, Maintenance, Programming, and the ability to read schematics or machining, tooling design, tooling assembly, part drawings and pneumatic schematics.
  • Able to interpret and comprehend and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) logic (Allen Bradley)
