Butler Rose is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our client in Plymouth on an interim basis for 3 to 6 months, whilst they recruit permanently.

This interim job supports the Financial Controller in ensuring robust financial management across key areas such as budgetary planning, reporting, treasury & tax, credit control, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cash Flow & Forecasting: Assist with the preparation of short-term cash flow forecasts.
  • Statutory Accounts & Audit: Support the preparation of statutory accounts and the audit process.
  • Tax Compliance: Contribute to the preparation of tax returns and compliance.
  • Reporting: Prepare information for HMRC, national statistics, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate, prepare, and analyse monthly rolling forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Subsidiary Oversight: Ensure accounting and tax compliance for overseas subsidiaries.
  • Business Partnering: Provide financial analysis and information to finance business partners.
  • Internal Controls: Support the maintenance of business controls and procedures.
  • Month-End Processes: Participate in the month-end close cycle for timely management accounts preparation.
  • Reconciliations & Asset Management: Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and manage the fixed asset register
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Projects: Carry out ad hoc projects and prepare statistical reports as needed.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Qualifications: Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role with a strong operational background.
  • IT Proficiency: High-level competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; excellent attention to detail; proactive and self-motivated.
  • Attributes: Commercially aware, confident, enthusiastic, and efficient with an ability to manage time effectively.
