Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an independent planning consultancy who are seeking an experienced and driven Planning Director to spearhead the establishment of a new office in Plymouth for a leading Planning Consultancy. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to take on a leadership role, build a team, and develop the company's presence in the South West.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the setup of a new office, with full responsibility for business development and client acquisition in the region
  • Manage and grow a successful planning team, providing mentorship and support to junior planners
  • Take ownership of large-scale planning projects across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and local authorities
  • Provide expert planning advice and guidance to clients, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, successful outcomes
  • Oversee the financial management of projects and ensure the team meets targets and objectives

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior planning role, ideally at Director level
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK planning system, with a strong network of contacts in the South West
  • Excellent business development skills, with a track record of winning new work and growing client accounts
  • Strong leadership and management abilities, capable of building and inspiring a high-performing team
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • MRTPI qualification (or working towards)
