About the Role

Butler Rose is delighted to have been exclusively appointed to support our client, a Manufacturer in the Plymouth area who have a current requirement for a Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is either in a junior procurement or supply chain role, and is looking to take the next step in their career, or an experienced buyer looking to join a dynamic and supportive organisation, that will give you the chance to work within exciting field of purchasing, playing a key role in the companies further development. Full training will be provided.

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the MRP system, and carrying out a range of duties including managing stock movements, assisting with forecast reporting, and ensuring effective communication with suppliers to minimise out-of-stock situations.

Duties are wide ranging in scope, but include the following:

  • Management of stock, including creating new material codes on the MRP system
  • Obtain quotations, evaluate and negotiate pricing, along with other commercial terms for purchases.
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Create purchase orders to acquire materials ensuring optimal value for the business.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and 3PLs to accelerate and secure timely delivery of materials.
  • Work with suppliers on time to meet varied production requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the Materials Requirements Plan (MRP), ensuring it is communicated and distributed effectively so that purchasing aligns with business needs.
  • Act as the first point of contact between suppliers and stakeholders to resolve any problems that arise
  • Planning requirements and agreeing on supply contracts that support vital business processes.
  • Contribute to the development of Continuous Improvement initiatives for business optimisation

To be chosen for the role you must possess the following experience:

  • Experience working in supply chain or purchasing, ideally in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong IT skills, including MRP usage, as well as MS Office
  • Good communication skills, with an analytical eye and good attention to detail

  • Salary £29,000 - £34,000 Dependant on experience level
