Known for high-quality engineering, innovative design, and exceptional finished products, the company offers a diverse range of goods. After recent investment, they have grown drastically and are looking to scale out their procurement team by implementing category management.Your new roleAs a Category Manager, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-savings initiatives within direct spending. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of category management principles.If you're currently looking for a step-up into Category Management, or looking for an organisation where you can develop your skills further and operate across multiple categories, this could be a great opportunity for you.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category strategies to optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the assigned category.
- Manage supplier relationships, including negotiation of contracts, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality, to ensure alignment of category strategies with business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance category performance and achieve cost savings targets.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to category management.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends to maintain a competitive edge.
What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant qualifications (i.e. CIPS) or time-served.
- Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar procurement role within a similar industry.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work autonomously
- A strong understanding of data interpretation in relation to purchasing
