We are looking for a Maintenance Planner to join a global engineering company based in Plymouth.

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for creating, managing, and delivering a maintenance plan for the facility, plant, and machinery. Enabling and ensuring the efficient and effective running of the site, facilities, and production plant and machinery in line with operations across the factory to meet on time delivery of all products.

The role involves assembling and coordinating the information, people, materials, equipment, along with all the other necessary resources to get the job done.

The role also includes maintaining and updating the relevant documentation and legislation associated to the facility, plant and machinery.

Management of plant and machinery maintenance and repair: Develop preventive maintenance schedules, databases, spare part lists, etc., for all plant and machinery, identifying external service contracts, service providers, manufacturers, and parts suppliers for each piece of plant and machinery.

Develop TPM processes, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), Risk Assessments, quality standards, and any other procedures for internal/external maintenance requirements.

Planning and managing all planned maintenance schedules, reactive repairs, calibration, PAT (Portable Appliance Testing), minimising equipment downtime and impact on Production operations.

Ensure compliance to QHSE and relevant legislation/regulations such as PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations), identifying relevant safe use of equipment and best practice for plant and machinery. Identify relevant training requirements and training providers as necessary.

Create and deliver monthly reports for machine and plant maintenance/repair, costs, downtime etc.

Management of building/facility maintenance and repair:

Plan and oversee all facility maintenance and repair requirements of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, grounds maintenance and any other building systems.

Manage and oversee building dilapidation project and budget.

Manage and oversee facility environmental/legislative requirements, such as licensing requirements, emission testing etc.

Manage and oversee sight waste management for general and hazardous waste.

Create and deliver monthly reports for building/facility maintenance, costs, downtime etc.

Plan and manage process and plant improvement activities: Identify and investigate process and plant improvement opportunities that lead to the design and implementation of new systems, equipment, and processes.

Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and cost savings associated to facility and plant.

Introduction of new products or the improvement of existing ones.

Take manufacturing processes from concept and trial to full scale manufacture.

Specify plant and equipment, and provide cost justification to the business, making sure you get the highest quality at the best price.

Layout and design production units, run capital expenditure projects, install, and commission equipment and documentation.

Manage and liaise with subcontractors, ensuring all relevant RAMS in place and issue permits to work.

Provide training/guidance to the production teams and sign off production process.

Person specification

Knowledge of engineering principles, safety regulations, and preventative maintenance strategies

Proficiency CMMS and ERP tools.

The ability to work with people at all levels of an organisation, including training technicians and coordinating with storerooms.

The ability to identify potential issues before they become larger problems.

The ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects, and keep an office and files tidy.
