My client is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join the finance team of a large, successful retail business based at their Head Office in Plymouth. Reporting to the Overheads Manager and as part of the Overheads team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing several cost centres, ensuring that expenditure is recorded accurately and on a timely basis.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Process expenditure invoices via our data capture system to ensure payment deadlines are met.
  • Review sensitive nominal codes, identifying CAPEX, prepayments, and accruals.
  • Analyse costs against budgets and report key variances to the Finance Manager team.
  • Assist in budgeting and reforecasting as appropriate.
  • Own a selection of cost centres & balance sheet codes.
  • Post and evidence monthly accruals, prepayments, and other journals as required.
  • Manage full Accounts payable for all Property invoices using our data capture approval system.
  • Prepare quarterly/monthly rents payments.
  • Conduct Fixed Asset review and transactional postings to include depreciation.
  • Support budgeting and reforecasting processes.
  • Play a key role in month-end and year-end deadlines.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as and when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Financial qualification (AAT or equivalent) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and organisational skills.
  • IT literate with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
