Reed Education are recruiting for learning mentors in Plymouth, on a full-time basis!

Location: Exeter

Start date: ASAP

Start time: 8:30am

Finish time: 3:20am

Other: Term-time only, Monday - Friday

What is a learning mentor?

Learning mentors play a crucial role in supporting children and young people who face various challenges that impact their ability to learn. Here are some key aspects of the role:

1. Identifying Needs: Learning mentors work closely with teachers and other staff to identify learners who require help. These learners may struggle with social, emotional, or behavioural issues that hinder their learning.

2. Supporting Learners: Learning mentors provide one-on-one or group support to pupils. They help learners build self-esteem and confidence, address underperformance, and overcome obstacles to learning. This support can take place outside the classroom.

3. Creating Action Plans: Learning mentors collaborate with learners to create action plans. These plans outline the aims of mentoring and help monitor progress.

4. Networking and Collaboration: Learning mentors network with other mentors, teachers, and external agencies (such as educational psychologists, police, and social services).
