SEN Teaching Assistant responsibilities include the following:

  • Keep the classroom and its furnishings neat and safe.

  • Assist with record-keeping by documenting observations of students during the academic day.

  • Share their comprehension of pupils with other members of the school personnel.

  • Exhibit good attitudes, values, and actions appropriate for the role and the standards.

  • Encourage all students to participate in extracurricular and academic activities in order to support, encourage, and facilitate inclusion.

  • Offer assistance with teaching and learning, making use of the necessary technological tools.

  • Help students with special education requirements and other needs.

A SEN Teaching Assistant should ideally have the following:

  • Experience working with students who have special education needs: ASD, PMLD, SEMH, or MLD.

  • Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one).

  • The ability to work in the UK.

  • Two references from the professional world are required.
