Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant (Temp to Perm)

Location: Various Schools Across Devon & Cornwall

Contract Type: Temporary with potential for permanent placement

Salary:£90+ a day

We are a local education recruitment agency, currently looking for passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to work with schools across Devon and Cornwall on a temporary basis. There is strong potential for these roles to lead to permanent positions for the right candidates.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working with children who require additional support in their learning due to a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning or emotional difficulties. This is a great opportunity to work in a variety of settings, gain experience, and make a lasting impact on students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to pupils with special educational needs, adapting your approach to suit individual requirements.
  • Collaborate with class teachers to modify lesson plans and classroom activities to meet students' specific needs.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of Individual Education Plans.
  • Support behavioural management in line with school policies.
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, empathetic, and calm approach to managing challenging behaviours.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various school settings.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions is advantageous but not essential.
  • Relevant qualifications (such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEN-specific training) are beneficial, but not mandatory.
