Butler Rose Recruitment is delighted to support our client a leading manufacturer in the Plymouth area in their search for an experienced Indirect Procurement Specialist. This role requires a proactive and knowledgeable professional to take ownership of indirect spend, driving value through strategic sourcing, effective contract management, and cost-saving initiatives.
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Manage competitive bids for indirect requirements
- Develop, negotiate, and maintain robust contracts with suppliers to secure optimal pricing and high service standards.
- Provide support to the Direct Purchasing Manager when needed, including acting as cover during their absence.
- Assist the Head of Purchasing in enhancing and executing purchasing strategies.
- Oversee the on-site integrated supplier team, managing service levels, cost-saving activities, and team performance.
- Identify opportunities to reduce indirect costs and lead projects from conception through to implementation, coordinating with all relevant stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key indirect suppliers.
- Identify and assess potential new suppliers, including options for dual sourcing.
- Identify opportunities to lower indirect inventory levels and develop effective actions to realise these reductions.
- Ensure compliance with all sourcing, contracting, and risk management policies and ethics.
- Recognise potential risks in contracts and devise strategies to mitigate them.
- Prepare and present regular reports detailing contract status, performance, and achieved savings.
- Evaluate and implement solutions that best support business objectives, weighing alternatives where necessary.
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience indirect procurement ideally in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to cultivate effective relationships internally and externally.
- Well-developed negotiation skills.
