Job Summary

Are you ready to take charge of a dynamic supply chain and lead a global team to success? REED Supply Chain is partnering with a manufacturing organization based in Plymouth, seeking a passionate and experienced professional to oversee their inbound supply chain and global delivery of finished products. As the Head of Supply Chain, you’ll ensure timely procurement of materials and services, supporting operations with optimized inventories and service levels. Join them in driving budget optimization and achieving operational goals in cost, service level, quality, and working capital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Lead budgeting, reporting, and financial guidance to evaluate operational results, uncovering trends and profit opportunities.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and develop the supply chain team, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Strategy Implementation: Roll out group strategies, policies, and procedures across the supply chain.
  • Performance Analysis: Dive into supply chain metrics, resolve issues, and spearhead improvement initiatives.
  • Sales and Operations Planning: Collaborate with key functions to align medium-term plans with production schedules, driving the sales and operational planning processes.
  • Global Logistics Management: Manage global logistics to hit service, quality, and cost targets, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Supplier Performance: Enhance supplier performance, focusing on the quality of delivered goods and services, and build a robust supply network.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate supplier agreements, prepare contracts, and manage tenders with finesse.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data and generate reports to monitor supplier performance, spending, cost-saving opportunities, and risks.
  • Risk Management: Assess and manage risks related to part shortages and escalation processes.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Partner with suppliers on sustainability programs to improve their environmental footprint.
  • Material Scheduling: Ensure timely action on material schedules and purchase orders, maintaining integrity and control in planning and supply data.
  • Inventory Management: Develop material replenishment systems and processes to optimize customer service, manage working capital, and reduce obsolescence.
  • ERP/MRP Systems: Master and implement ERP and MRP requirements, leveraging system functionalities.
  • Lead-Time Management: Quote and drive down lead times across the product portfolio.
  • Compliance: Ensure business compliance with industry legislation, accreditation, and best practice guidelines.
  • Source Security: Secure and sustain essential product and service sources, adhering to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Preferred Qualifications.
  • Certifications: Supply chain or logistics-specific qualifications such as CIPS, APICS, or IOSCM.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent understanding of MRP/ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Methodologies: Experience with material supply methodologies, including Lean principles.
