Sonic Summary

We are seeking a Welder for a 26-week contract at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth, focusing on ships and submarines.
Candidates should have proficiency in various welding techniques such as FCAW, MMA, MIG, and TIG, and be able to read engineering drawings.
Ideal applicants will have marine engineering experience, particularly with Royal Navy vessels or large commercial ships, and must hold relevant qualifications.
The position offers a competitive salary with the possibility of overtime and a travel allowance based on distance.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred, and candidates must be able to obtain security clearance and pass a DBS check.

We currently have contract work in Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth for a Welder for a 26-week contract working on ships, submarines and within a factory environment.

Skills:

Proficiency in one or more welding techniques: FCAW, MMA, MIG, TIG

Be able to undertake regular welding requalification to meet required standards.

Essential Experience:

You will need the ability to read engineering drawings, to interpret work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop tools & machinery specific to welding.

Ideally you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience from other engineering sectors will be considered.

Experience of working within marine engineering environment.

Qualifications:

Time served?apprentice within the field of marine engineering / naval engineering environment.

Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role.

Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship.

Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role.

Ability to obtain and hold security clearance for this role and undertake a DBS check.

35 hours with possible overtime available.

Competitive rate with travel allowance (depending on distance)
