Sonic Summary

We are seeking a Welder for a 26-week contract at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth, working on ships and submarines.
Candidates should have proficiency in various welding techniques such as FCAW, MMA, MIG, and TIG, along with the ability to read engineering drawings.
Essential experience includes working in the marine engineering industry, particularly with Royal Navy ships or large commercial vessels, and a time-served apprenticeship in marine or naval engineering.
The position offers a competitive salary with a travel allowance based on distance, and candidates must be UK Nationals able to obtain security clearance.
Applicants should ideally have at least Level 3 qualifications relevant to the role and be prepared for a weld test.

We currently recruiting for Welders for a 26-week contract working on ships, submarines and within a factory environment in Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.

Skills:

Proficiency in one or more welding techniques: FCAW, MMA, MIG, TIG

Be able to undertake regular welding requalification to meet required standards.

Essential Experience:

You will need the ability to read engineering drawings, to interpret work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop tools & machinery specific to welding.

Ideally you will have worked in the marine engineering industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience from other engineering sectors will be considered.

Experience of working within marine engineering environment.

Qualifications:

Time served apprentice within the field of marine engineering / naval engineering environment.

Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role.

Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship or Level 2 (weld test will be required)

Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role.

Ability to obtain and hold security clearance for this role and undertake a DBS check. We are only able to consider UK Nationals.

Hours: Mon-Thurs 07.30am-15.30 Friday 07.30-12.30 Friday

Competitive rate with travel allowance (depending on distance)
