Welders

Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth

Temporary / 6-month contract

Are you an experienced Welder looking for a new challenge? Do you hold a Level 3 NVQ in Engineering?

gap personnel Exeter are recruiting for several Welders on a temporary basis for our client based at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, Devon.  

You will be joining a leading company that provides Engineering Services to the Defence, Security, Nuclear and Emergency Servies.

As a Welder you will be working on both Ships and Submarines as well as within a factory environment. You will be competent within some or all of the following - FCAW, MMA, MIG, TIG. Ideally you will have worked in the marine engineering industry, with experience of Royal Navy ships & submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although relevant experience from other engineering sectors will also be considered. You will be confident in reading engineering drawings, to interpet work instructions and be competent in the use of general workshop tools & machinery specific to welding. 

About you:

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role
  • Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to the role
  • Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship
  • Time served apprentice within the field of marine engineering / naval engineering
  • Available immediately
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well independately and as a team

Pay & Hours:

  • £26.58 per hour, paid weekly 
  • Monday to Thursday (0730am – 1530pm) & Friday 0730am – 1230pm, 35hours per week.
