TeacherActive is looking for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work with our “outstanding” client in Ackworth. This school provides unrivalled support to pupils aged 11 to 19 with severe, complex, or profound multiple learning difficulties. They have a diverse student body, and many individuals contend with additional needs, including Autism, sensory impairment, challenging behaviour, as well as medical and physical difficulties. This school was awarded “outstanding” by Ofsted, and it offers a caring, welcoming, and relaxed environment for students. This is a permanent role aiming to begin in September 2024, depending on DBS and References.
The working hours are Monday to Friday and 08.30 am to 3.30 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide support for individual pupils or groups of pupils with special educational needs assisting with their learning activities, providing supervision and care
- To assist with the personal needs of pupils including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
- To assist with the supervision of pupils outside of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtime
- To facilitate physical, therapeutic, and multisensory programmes with individual or small groups of pupils
The ideal TA / Teaching Assistant should have the following:
- Level 2 or 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months experience with SEND
- Passionate and enthusiastic for their work
- Good communication skills
- A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
- Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
