Position: Freelance Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experiencedFreelance Quantity Surveyor to take charge of cost management and project delivery over a 12-month contract. This role offers a anopportunity to work on complex projectwithin the retail and construction sector, focusing on cut-and-carve, groundworks, and substructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring solid expertise in structuring and managing packages, overseeing subcontractor appointments, and handling final accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Package Management: Oversee the planning, organisation, and implementation of project packages, ensuring they meet budget, quality, and timeline targets.
  • Subcontractor Appointment & Coordination: Lead the appointment of subcontractors, negotiating terms and fostering productive working relationships to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Final Accounts Management: Manage the final accounts process, completing all documentation, reconciliations, and settlements to close out projects accurately and on time.
  • Contract Knowledge: Utilise strong knowledge of JCT and negotiated contracts to ensure compliance across all projects, and address any contractual issues promptly.

Ideal Experience:

  • Sector Expertise: Extensive experience in cut-and-carve retail projects, particularly within supermarket environments.
  • Groundworks & Substructures: Skilled in groundworks and substructure projects, with a track record of delivering accurate costings and maintaining quality control.
  • Project Scale: Proven experience managing projects valued up to 7 million, ensuring delivery within budget and to the highest standards.
