GSL Education are recruiting a Design Technology Teacher to work in a dynamic and welcoming school in the beautiful areas of Pontefract. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and passion for the subject, as well as a commitment to supporting the department's day-to-day operations.

As a Design Technology Teacher, you will inspire creativity and innovation by teaching students’ practical skills in design, engineering, and technology. You will guide students through projects, fostering problem-solving abilities and hands-on learning experiences.

About this Role:

  • Primary duties include teaching Design & Technology students of KS3, KS4 and KS5, lesson planning, and developing medium- and long-term plans.
  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • Evaluating the ability of individual students, putting together BTEC materials for exams, and helping students with special needs.
  • Support students by delivering differentiated Design Technology lessons that are accessible to students with varying special needs.
  • Contribute and engage in extra-curricular Design and Technology activities.
  • Take part in staff training days, staff meetings and parent’s evenings.

Design Technology Teacher requirements:

  • A UK teaching qualification namely e.g. PGCE in Design and Technology or B.Ed with QTS.
  • Proven experience teaching Design Technology.
  • Interested in children as individuals, in how they learn and in a collaborative approach to learning.
  • Aware of appropriate strategies for mixed-attainment teaching and adapt to the varying demands of each classroom situation.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
