Prospero is looking for an inspiring, enthusiastic and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEN in a special needs school based in Pontefract. The role is to start in ASAP and is full-time, 08.30-15.30 Monday to Friday. For the right candidate, there is the strong possibility of the role becoming permanent. There are opportunities to support pupils across all key stages who have SEN and may require 1:1 support in their lessons to help them to engage with their learning. The role will involve supporting the pupils with their learning on a 1:1 basis or small groups basis, so the successful candidate will need to be a resilient practitioner and have excellent relationship-building skills. The role will involve supporting the pupils during all of their lessons, and communicating effectively with Class Teachers to ensure appropriate strategies are used that are suited to the individual needs and learning styles of the pupils to allow them to engage with their learning and make excellent all-round progress. The role will also involve supervision at break times and lunchtimes. The school is brilliantly supportive, inspiring, and enjoyable environment for both students and staff. This role will involve: Supporting a pupil with SEN challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis. Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner. Building and maintaining positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress. Preparing resources for learning activities and lessons. Supervising pupils at break times and lunch times as required. Having a "hands on" approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form a positive rapport with the pupil. Liaising with parents and outside agencies to discuss progress as required. This role requires: An Enhanced Ideally a recognised Childcare-based qualification, although , this is not essential. An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff. A resilient, proactive, and positive nature Experience of supporting pupils in a School setting. Ideally experience of 1:1 Support within a School setting High levels of enthusiasm, energy and working with pupils. A genuine passion for people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
