Position: Teaching Assistant (1:1)Location: Pontyclun, RCTStart Date: 3rd February 2025
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our school in the Pontyclun area. This role involves providing 1:1 support to a pupil with Down Syndrome who is non-verbal.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with the pupil to support their educational and personal development.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored learning plans.
- Employ creative and flexible approaches to communication and engagement.
- Promote inclusion and ensure the pupil feels safe, valued, and supported.
- Foster a nurturing and encouraging environment for the pupil to thrive.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Experience working in a special school, Specialist Resource Base (SRB), or in a 1:1 role.
- Specific experience supporting children with Down Syndrome.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- An enhanced DBS check (registered on the update service or willing to obtain one).
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
- A genuine passion for working with children with additional learning needs.
