Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (Pontyclun Area)

Position: Teaching Assistant (1:1)Location: Pontyclun, RCTStart Date: 3rd February 2025

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our school in the Pontyclun area. This role involves providing 1:1 support to a pupil with Down Syndrome who is non-verbal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the pupil to support their educational and personal development.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored learning plans.
  • Employ creative and flexible approaches to communication and engagement.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure the pupil feels safe, valued, and supported.
  • Foster a nurturing and encouraging environment for the pupil to thrive.
Ideal Candidate:

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience working in a special school, Specialist Resource Base (SRB), or in a 1:1 role.
  • Specific experience supporting children with Down Syndrome.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Requirements:
  • An enhanced DBS check (registered on the update service or willing to obtain one).
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • A genuine passion for working with children with additional learning needs.
