Robert Half are exclusively recruiting an Assistant Accountant, based in Pontypool. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading business, with a global presence. This opening is perfect for any aspiring accountant looking to take the next step in their career.

This role offers a hybrid working model, with flexibility to support individual and business needs. As a new employee you will be expected to attend the office 4 days per week during their first 1-2 months to support onboarding and training. This will then transition to 1-2 days per week.

Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Salary: £30,000

You will be part of a team of fifteen finance professionals who are responsible for assisting with the delivery of the following on a daily basis:

Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving reconciling items.
Supporting the reduction of reconciling items through process improvements.
Inputting data into accounting systems and supporting monthly financial close.
Preparing monthly journals, including accruals and prepayments.
Administering fixed asset transactions, including capitalisation, disposals, and depreciation.
Processing payroll files and managing employee benefit schemes.
Managing leasing entries and reconciling control accounts.
Calculating provisions, including bad debt.
Supporting monthly and yearly reporting in line with deadlines.
Building strong relationships with finance contacts and maintaining a high standard of service.
Contributing to compliance, process improvements, and value-added activities.
Supporting internal and external audit requests.

Tasks undertaken will vary from time to time to ensure the whole team experiences a broader range of activities and that there is adequate cross-training within the team.

Your Profile:

Experience of working within a Finance team
Finance degree or equivalent.
Understanding of financial controls and data protection regulations.
Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.
Intermediate Excel skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Working knowledge of ERP software (desirable).
Support for professional accountancy qualification (ACCA) available.
