About the Role:We are currently seeking a Welsh-speaking, highly motivated and skilled DT Technician to support a DT department. This exciting long-term position will primarily cover textiles and cooking (food technology) in a vibrant educational setting. The successful candidate will provide essential support to both teachers and students, helping to create a positive and effective learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teaching staff in delivering textiles and cooking (food technology) lessons, providing support to students during practical activities.
- Prepare and organise materials, equipment, and resources for lessons in textiles and food technology.
- Ensure that all equipment and resources are well-maintained, safe to use, and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with setting up and clearing away practical work areas.
- Supervise students during practical tasks, providing guidance and support where needed.
- Help manage classroom resources, including stock control of textiles and food-related materials.
- Support the delivery of bilingual lessons, ensuring effective communication in Welsh with staff and students.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised work space for both textiles and cooking activities.
- Liaise with teaching staff to identify any specific needs or concerns relating to students progress in practical lessons.
Requirements:
- Fluency in Welsh (spoken and written) is essential.
- Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a similar role, especially within textiles or food technology, is highly desirable.
- A passion for supporting students in practical subjects, with strong organisational and technical skills.
- Knowledge of textiles and food technology equipment, tools, and materials.
- Ability to support students effectively during practical tasks and foster a positive learning environment.
- Strong communication skills in both Welsh and English.
- A good understanding of health and safety regulations within practical subject areas.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
