About the Role:

Based in Poole, Dorset, my client, a dynamic autonomous subsidiary of a large international group, is looking to recruit a qualified accountant as Financial Controller on a hybrid basis (3 day p/w in the office).

Reporting to the Managing Director the Financial Controller will be responsible for providing financial MI and KPI to support decision making by the Management Team, the accurate and timely production of financial information for the Group and developing and maintaining robust and consistent management accounting, forecasting and budgeting systems; financial controls and procedures.

Main responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

  • Implementing appropriate, robust and workable controls & policies to protect the company’s profitability, cashflow and balance sheet.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory law and financial regulations
  • Liaison with external accountants on year end and audit and tax returns
  • Review accurate and timely monthly accounts including monthly reforecast for rolling 12 months and prepare Group Consolidation; presenting and explaining Monthly reporting to the Directors and management team as required.
  • Preparation and presentation of Monthly reporting of MI to Group
  • Modelling and Forecasting as required by Group
  • Prepare annual budgets in line with company Strategy
  • Production of weekly and monthly KPI’s and performance measures to support and influence management decision making
  • Ensure company audit is successful, auditor’s statement is unqualified and statutory accounts are prepared and signed
  • Responsible for management and development of the Finance team

The Ideal candidate for the Financial Controller:

  • Qualified Accountant, (ACA, ACCA or ACMA) with a strong academic record.
  • Excellent communication skills, rigorous, organised and able to work collaboratively across the business
  • Experience of Statutory reporting, Inventory accounting & Group reporting.
  • Strong Staff management with the proven ability to lead, manage and develop a high performing team.
  • Team player with proven ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of excel and accounting systems
  • Track record of driving continuous improvement, close and reporting related systems and processes
