We’re working exclusively in partnership with a long-established, market-leading software company that delivers innovative digital solutions to specialist sectors supporting infrastructure, logistics, and heavy industry across the UK.  With a strong and loyal customer base, a robust legacy codebase, and an ambitious roadmap ahead, this is a pivotal moment in their evolution.

As part of their Senior Leadership Team, they’re hiring a Development Director to lead their Developer QA and DevOps teams, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

You’ll oversee the full software development lifecycle, leading multiple teams responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable applications using modern tech stacks alongside a programme of legacy modernisation.  With a focus on Agile delivery, automated testing, and continuous improvement, you’ll steer cross-functional collaboration across product, infrastructure, and commercial functions.  This will deliver a roadmap including 3rd party integrations, architecture evolution, strategic re-writes, and enhanced deployment automation.

You’ll also play a central role in the wider business strategy, bringing technical insight and commercial awareness to board-level conversations.

As the Development Director, your skills and experience will include:

  • Proven leadership of software development functions, ideally within a B2B or product-focused environment
  • Experience managing and scaling Agile teams across Development, QA, and DevOps
  • Deep knowledge of the full SDLC, automated testing strategies, and release management
  • Technical proficiency with C# and the .NET framework; React and Jira knowledge advantageous
  • The ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with hands-on leadership and delivery oversight
  • A pragmatic, collaborative style and the ability to represent R&D credibly at board level
